Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history.    Adam Johnson, former NHL player, dead at 29 due to "freak accident" on October 28th. He had suffered a skate cut during a Champions Cup game playing for the Nottingham Panthers in England, playing against the Sheffield Steelers.

 

    "Adam, our number 47, was not only an outstanding ice hockey player, but also a great teammate and an incredible person with his whole life ahead of him. The Club will dearly miss him and will never ever forget him."

   Adam Johnson also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, playing in 13 games between 2018-2020 seasons. The Penguins also have mourned the player and honored him after his tragic death. The Penguins made posts on social media for their game, October 30th, about wearing special decals on their helmets to honor and remember Adam Johnson.
