Kadirova, Elridge Each Score Two, Torrent Falls 4-3 To Charge

  Photo via Seattle Torrent/PWHL The Torrent suffered their fourth straight loss when they took on the Ottawa Charge on Wednesday at TD Place, losing 4-3. Seattle came alive in the second period behind two goals from Jessie Eldridge. Alex Carpenter, who made history scoring the first-ever penalty shot goal in PWHL history, tied the game before Ottawa took the lead back with little time to play. Fanuza Kadirova found the back of the net twice for the Charge. Alexa Vasko and Emily Clark also scored to help secure the victory. The Torrent will look to regroup before hosting the Boston Fleet on March 11, while the Charge travel to the Prudential Center on Sunday for a showdown with the New York Sirens. Hughes-Day: Devils Win In Vancouver 12/5/23

 






   The Hughes brothers played in the same NHL game for the first time, and it was only the ninth time in NHL history a sibling trio played the same game.

The Devils won in Vancouver with a 6-5 score on Tuesday, December 5th.


Here's the Devils lineup against the Canucks:

   Jesper Bratt gives the Devils the lead in the first period, the score being 1-0 up until J.T. Miller scores for the Canucks tying the game. Erik Haula scores putting the Devils back in the lead, 2-1. Jack Hughes scores near the end of the first, Micand hael Mcleod scoring soon after Hughes. With only 20 seconds left, Dakota Joshua scores for the Canucks, 4-2 being the final score in the first period.


   Luke Hughes scores the first and only goal in the second, 5-2 being the final score in the second period.


   Brock Boeser cuts into the lead and Sam Lafferty scores with about 5 minutes left in the third, the score being 5-4. Nils Hoglander scores for the Canucks, tying the game 5-5. Jesper Bratt wins the game for the Devils! The final score was 6-5 in the third period.



"It's really cool and should be a fun night." Quinn Hughes said pre-game.

- This being Erik Haula's first game back after missing three due to injury, he scored his 7th goal of the season

"It was pretty good the first two periods, then pretty ugly in the third," Jack Hughes said. "We found a way to win, so that's all that matters."


"It's a big win for our team, a resilient win," Luke Hughes said. "Obviously not the way we wanted to close it out, but it's a big two points for our team."




   Funny enough, I was reminded of that one Jack Hughes interview when he said, "It's so awesome, I didn't know there was a city in New Jersey," when I realized that Vancouver was in Canada all this time.
