NJ Devils beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-3, Jack Hughes scores a hat trick! 12/16/23

 






   The Devils played against the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Saturday, December 16th. The Devils being in the lead the whole game, Jack Hughes scoring a hat trick that sparked a Devils victory!

   Jack Hughes wasted no time on getting his 99th goal, only 46 seconds in the game. Erik Haula scores later on near the end of first, the final score of first period being 2-0.


   Only seconds into second period, Kirill Marchenko scores for Columbus. Tyler Toffoli scores, keeping the Devils in the lead! Kirill Marchenko scores his second of the night, Jack Hughes also scores his second goal of the night near the end of second! The final score of second period being 4-2.


   Nico Hischier starts the Devils off in third! Alexandre Texier scores for Columbus, also being the last goal they get for the night. Jack Hughes gets the hatty, being his 2nd career hat trick!



What an eventful game full of milestones!?

- Jack Hughes now has 101 career goals, 2 NHL hat tricks, AND his first goal in this game is now marked the fastest NHL goal of his career - his previous marked the fastest being 54 seconds.

- Jack Hughes also became the fastest player in NJ Devils history to reach 100 career goals (267 GP), this record previously held by Brian Gionta (284 GP) 

- Nico Hischier officially has 300 career points

- Lindy Ruff, 4th All Time, with 850 NHL wins

- Johnny Gaudreau got to 700 NHL points!
