Avalanche Defeats The Bruins In Shootout 4-3, 1/8/24

   The Avalanche and Bruins played in Colorado on Monday, January 8th. It was a close win for either team - both are very great teams that have many skilled players, so it would've gone either way, honestly.

   Brad Marchand strikes first, the Bruins in the lead 1-0. Mikko Rantanen ties up the game with only a few minutes left of the first frame. The final score of the first period was 1-1.


   Logan O'Connor breaks the tie and gets the Avalanche in the lead early into the second frame. Johnny Beecher answers back and ties up the game 2-2. Sam Malinski scores his second NHL goal for the lead! The final score of the second period was 3-2.


   Brad Marchand nets another! This was his second goal of the night and his seventeenth goal of the season. The final score was 3-3 before heading into overtime.


   Overtime was completely scoreless, now heading into a shootout.

   Valeri Nichushkin scored the only goal in the shootout and the Avalanche won with a 4-3 score. This win is definitely great for Colorado after their 8-4 loss against the Florida Panthers on January 6th.



"It's a big game for us, a big win," Sam Malinski said, speaking about their win against Boston. "They're a really good team - they played as hard, and they played us well."



- Jason Polin made his NHL Debut!

- Brad Marchand passed Rick Middleton for sole possession of 5th place on the Bruins all-time scoring list with 899 points.

- Johnny Beecher has made 55 hits in his career

- Brandon Carlo did not return for the third period due to an upper-body injury

- Valeri Nichushkin stats:

   - 20 Goals

   - 40 Points



"We know that they're a dominant team in the league," Brad Marchand said, speaking about the Avalanche and their loss against them in Colorado. "If we want to beat them, we got to bring our best."
