Penguins Secure 2nd Straight Victory Against Flyers

  After dropping the first three games to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially making things interesting. The Penguins secured their second straight victory in Game 5 on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, defeating the Flyers in a nail-biting 3-2 win to keep their season alive. Sidney Crosby fueled the comeback with a pair of assists, while Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar, and Kris Letang each found the back of the net. Following a 4-2 win in Game 4, Pittsburgh has now cut the series lead to 3-2 and will look to force a decisive Game 7 when they travel back to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Buffalo Sabres Defeat The San Jose Sharks 3-0, 1/15/24

   The Sharks played in Buffalo on Monday, January 15th. This was a bad loss for San Jose, but it was a good 3-0 win for the Sabres.

   Casey Mittelstadt scored late in the second - this was his 12th of the season. Alex Tuch nets one, 5:23 remaining in the middle frame. 2-0 was the final score of the second period.


   Jordan Greenway strikes an empty-netter! The final overall score was 3-0.



"Once we got going, we looked fresh. It was a good win." Casey Mittelstadt spoke postgame about Buffalo's 3-0 win against the Sharks.



- Luukkonen earned his second shutout of the season - a 28-save shutout against the Sharks. This was also his second career shutout!

"I think being stronger and hungrier around the net - I think we got to get back to being hard, and a little bit hungrier around both nets." Luke Kunin said postgame, talking about the Sharks loss and how he thinks they need to get on track with winning more games.
