The Toronto Maple Leafs played against the Canucks at the Rogers Arena on Saturday, January 20th. The Canucks won two games straight now after their loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on January 15th - the loss had ended Vancouver's five-game win streak. It wasn't a good loss for the Maple Leafs as they had just won their game on January 18th after a four-game losing streak.

Vancouver strikes first in the opening period - Nils Hoglander scored the first goal of the game, getting his 13th of the season. Hoglander scores his second of the night and his 14th of the season soon after his first goal. Connor Garland nets one with 7:02 remaining in the first period - the Canucks hold their three-goal lead for the remainder of the first frame.
At 15:07 in the middle frame, William Nylander gets the Maple Leafs on the board with his 22nd goal of the season. Cale McCabe nets one, a pass from Matthews to Marner - Marner sends it to McCabe. Nylander strikes his 23rd of the season and second goal of the night, tying the game 3-3 with 11:41 remaining in the second period. Connor Garland nets another, his 8th goal of the season and second of the night... getting the Canucks back in the lead.
Mitch Marner scored a short-handed goal, this being his 20th goal of the season... tying up the game 4-4 with 16:47 remaining in the final frame. Getting Vancouver back on top, J.T. Miller nets his 21st on the power play. Back-to-back power play goals - Elias Pettersson strikes his 25th of the season and Vancouver wins with a 6-4 score.
Quinn Hughes on the Canucks 6-4 win on Saturday: "It's another win. Last game we went 2-1, and found a way to tighten it up this game - We can win games 2-1 and we won't need the power play in other games where hopefully we can make an impact. I feel like tonight we made an impact."
"We got belief in this team. We came in here as a group and knew that was pretty pathetic. We knew this game and the pace of this game was going to be very high and competitive, and we didn't bring it in the first period. I like the response in the second." Mitch Marner spoke to the media after the Maple Leafs 6-4 loss, talking about his thoughts overall.
