Penguins Secure 2nd Straight Victory Against Flyers

  After dropping the first three games to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially making things interesting. The Penguins secured their second straight victory in Game 5 on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, defeating the Flyers in a nail-biting 3-2 win to keep their season alive. Sidney Crosby fueled the comeback with a pair of assists, while Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar, and Kris Letang each found the back of the net. Following a 4-2 win in Game 4, Pittsburgh has now cut the series lead to 3-2 and will look to force a decisive Game 7 when they travel back to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Ducks defeat the Sharks 3-2 in overtime, 1/31/24

   The Sharks played against the Ducks in Anaheim at the Honda Center on Wednesday, January 31st. After a 1-1 tie to San Jose being in the lead... the Ducks tie it up 2-2 and get the 3-2 overtime win.

   Anaheim struck early into the first period - Isac Lundestrom scored the first goal for the Ducks, getting them on the board 1-0. Lundestrom took a centering pass from Mason McTavish, going around the crease, and around Kaapo Kahkonen's right leg. After a shot by Shakir Mukhamadullin was saved by John Gibson, the puck got to Anthony Duclair who scored his ninth of the season and tied up the game 1-1.


   Marc-Edouard Vlasic gets the only goal in the middle frame in the net. With 2:03 remaining in the second period, Vlasic strikes the net from the point and gets the Sharks in the lead.


   Tying the game back up 2-2 with only 1:01 remaining in the third period, Troy Terry strikes his 15th goal of the season. With a great setup pass by Leo Carlsson, Terry nets one.


   Frank Vatrano scored the game-winning goal with only 53 seconds left in overtime. Vatrano took a cross-ice pass from Troy Terry off the rush and scored with a snapshot that slipped inside the near post.

- Troy Terry leads the Ducks in points and assists - now tied in second for goals.

- The Anaheim Ducks point streak extended to four games

- Isac Lundestrom has three points in his last three games

- Mason McTavish now owns 31 points and 43 assists this season... fourth-most this season among NHL players under 22 years old.

- Jakob Silfverberg has five points in his last four games

- Shakir Mukhamadullin recorded his first NHL point with his primary assist.

- Marc-Edouard Vlasic has scored in three straight games for the first time in his 18-season career.



Troy Terry on the Ducks 3-2 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks: "I think we had the puck in there more - I thought in the third period, we made more of a commitment to do that... So, it was nice to have kind of a heroic comeback there - It was good."
