Golden Knights defeat the Islanders 3-2, 1/23/24

   The Golden Knights played against the Islanders in New York on Tuesday, January 23rd. It was a close win for both teams, however, Vegas took the 3-2 win. It's a great win for the Golden Knights after their 6-5 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Monday, January 22nd.

   Ivan Barbashev scores the first goal of the game, getting Vegas on the board 1-0. A forced turnover in the offensive zone and a shot from the top of the right dot - the puck deflects off Barbashev and gets past Ilya Sorokin.


   Getting New York on the board, Brock Nelson tied up the game 1-1. Sheldon Rempal answers back with his 1st NHL goal, giving Vegas the lead 2-1 on the power play, beating Sorokin blocker side on the rush. Nicolas Roy nets one for Vegas less than two minutes after Rempal for the 3-1 lead.


   Jean-Gabriel Pageau gets the Islanders another with a shorthanded goal halfway through the final frame. Pageau's goal being the only one this period, the Golden Knights won with a 3-2 score.



Notes:

- Sheldon Rempal scored his 1st NHL goal

- Ivan Barbashev's goal gave him a four-point streak

- Brock Nelson recorded his 500th career point with his goal
