The Montreal Canadiens were coming out strong against the Boston Bruins on Saturday, January 20th. The Bruins answered back with a hat trick and a 9-4 score - Boston has a 4-game win streak that began on January 13th against the St. Louis Blues.

Cole Caufield gave the Canadiens a 1-0 lead on the power play at 9:18 of the first period. He shot from the right of the net, getting his 16th goal of the season... Caufield scored in his fifth straight game. Brandon Carlo tied the game at 1-1 after missing the past five games due to an upper-body injury. Carlo redirected Frederic's centering pass and scored his third of the season.
Joel Armia strikes his eighth goal of the season, giving Montreal the 2-1 lead from Joshua Roy's centering pass. Jake DeBrusk tied it back up 2-2 from the side of the net, and Danton Heinen redirected a shot from Matt Grzelcyk... the Bruins are in the lead with a 3-2.
Mike Matheson gets the game tied right back up on the power play, his seventh of the season. Heinen gave Boston a 4-3 lead, and Charlie Coyle tipped in a great shot from David Pastrnak just 49 seconds after Heinen's second of the night. Brandon Gallagher cut it to 5-4, poking the puck in.
David Pastrnak makes it 6-4 early in the final frame, scoring his 30th goal of the season. Brad Marchand gets his 20th in by a pass from Coyle from behind the net, 7-4. Pavel Zacha strikes his 100th NHL goal, and Heinen scores his first career hat trick making it 9-4 for the final.
Danton Heinen on his first career hat trick: "It felt good... hasn't really been going in lately, so it feels good to see it go in and just contribute to the two points."
Brad Marchand on his 11th straight 20-goal season: "It's great. I think the biggest part of that is that I've been fortunate to play with many really good players. I think we've been very fortunate to have very good teams here and we've had a lot of team success.. so with that comes individual success. It's great to see that stuff come and go, but I don't really get caught up in it. I have much bigger goals and aspirations - There's still a lot of time left in here, so it's great but it's a long way from where I want to be and where I want to finish."

- Boston has extended their point streak to 8
- Brad Marchand secured his 11th consecutive 20-goal season... passing Patrice Bergeron (10) and Johnny Buyck (10) for the most in Bruins history
- David Pastrnak reached the 30-goal mark for the seventh time - now matching Buyck for the second-most in Boston Bruins history
- Linus Ullmark made 17 saves - his return from a lower-body injury
- Sixteen players had a point for Boston
-Cole Caufield has become the fifth Montreal Canadiens player in the past 50 years with a five-game goal streak at the age of 23 or younger
- Sam Montembeault made 22 saves, and Cayden Primeau made five saves
