Penguins Secure 2nd Straight Victory Against Flyers

  After dropping the first three games to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially making things interesting. The Penguins secured their second straight victory in Game 5 on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, defeating the Flyers in a nail-biting 3-2 win to keep their season alive. Sidney Crosby fueled the comeback with a pair of assists, while Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar, and Kris Letang each found the back of the net. Following a 4-2 win in Game 4, Pittsburgh has now cut the series lead to 3-2 and will look to force a decisive Game 7 when they travel back to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Islanders OT Win, 4-3, Against The Maple Leafs 1/11/24

   The Maple Leafs played against the Islanders in New York on Thursday, January 11th. It was a close win for either team, but the Islanders won in overtime with a 4-3 score.

   Kyle Palmieri scores the first goal for the Islanders and his tenth goal of the season. Bobby McCann ties up the game with his second of the season - 1-1 being the final score for the first period.


   Auston Matthews nets one, getting the Maple Leafs in the lead by one. Matthews scores AGAIN, second of the night and 33rd of the season! Alex Romanov scores the second for the Islanders, and Bo Horvat ties it up - 3-3 being the final for the second and third period, going into overtime.


   Mat Barzal wins it for the Islanders just 21 seconds into overtime!



"They're a good team, they play really well," Auston Matthews said postgame, speaking about the Maple Leafs loss against New York. "I thought it was pretty back and forth - obviously, we'd like to get that extra point in overtime."
