Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. Islanders OT Win, 4-3, Against The Maple Leafs 1/11/24

   The Maple Leafs played against the Islanders in New York on Thursday, January 11th. It was a close win for either team, but the Islanders won in overtime with a 4-3 score.

   Kyle Palmieri scores the first goal for the Islanders and his tenth goal of the season. Bobby McCann ties up the game with his second of the season - 1-1 being the final score for the first period.


   Auston Matthews nets one, getting the Maple Leafs in the lead by one. Matthews scores AGAIN, second of the night and 33rd of the season! Alex Romanov scores the second for the Islanders, and Bo Horvat ties it up - 3-3 being the final for the second and third period, going into overtime.


   Mat Barzal wins it for the Islanders just 21 seconds into overtime!



"They're a good team, they play really well," Auston Matthews said postgame, speaking about the Maple Leafs loss against New York. "I thought it was pretty back and forth - obviously, we'd like to get that extra point in overtime."
