Minnesota Wild defeats the Florida Panthers with a 6-4 score, 1/19/24

   The Minnesota Wild played against the Florida Panthers at the Amerant Bank Arena on Friday, January 19th. The Wild got the win with a 6-4 score - scoring five power-play goals out of the six goals they had gotten. It was a great win for Minnesota after their 7-3 loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday, January 18th. Although, it was an unfortunate loss for Florida - this loss now marks a 4-game losing streak for them.

   Kirill Kaprizov scores on the power-play, getting the Wild on the board first with a 1-0 lead. Kaprizov got his 14th goal of the season with this goal on the power-play.


   35 seconds into the middle frame, Aaron Ekblad evens out the score to 1-1 ripping a shot past Fleury. The tie didn't last for long once Ryan Hartman put Minnesota back on top with a one-goal lead. Joel Eriksson Ek tipped in a shot by Brock Faber - Mats Zuccarello adds a power-play goal and the Wild has a three-goal lead. Eetu Luostarinen strikes his 8th goal of the season and the second goal of the gam for Florida.


   Scoring the fifth power-play goal 41 seconds into the final frame, Kaprizov strikes his 15th goal of the season. Anton Lundell makes it 5-3 for the Panthers with his third goal of the season - Gustav Forsling gets one in, his 7th goal of the season. Hartman strikes an empty-netter, getting his second of the night and the Wild wins with a 6-4 score.



Notes:

- Kirill Kaprizov had 2 goals and an assist... along with 15 points in the past 10 games

- Ryan Hartman had 2 goals

- Marc-Andre Fleury made 10 saves before leaving in the second period due to an upper-body injury.

- Filip Gustavsson made 21 saves

- Aaron Ekblad had one goal, three assists

- Sam Reinhart had a eight-game goal streak that unfortunately ended... Reinhart extended his point streak to nine games with an assist on Lundell's goal

- The Florida Panthers had a nine-game win streak before they began the four-game losing streak.

- Connor Dewar left in the second period with a lower-body injury

- Rookie defenseman, Brock Faber, had three assists and his first three-point game in the NHL

- William Lockwood left the game after a fight with Brandon Duhaime in the first period

- Matthew Tkachuk became the fastest player in Florida Panthers history to get 100 assists in just 124 games... Reinhart and Keith Yandle did it in 185 games.
