Mitchell Chaffee scores first NHL goal, Lightning beats Arizona 6-3 1/25/24

 






   The Coyotes fall to the Lightning in Tampa Bay on Thursday, January 25th. The Lighting won with a great 6-3 score.

   Starting off Tampa Bay, Darren Raddysh scores 24 seconds into the first period and makes it a 1-0 lead for the Lightning. Raddysh scored with a wrist shot from the right point, getting it in past Connor Ingram. Clayton Keller tied up the game at 1-1 with his 20th goal of the season... a follow-up in the slot, the shot coming from Josh Brown. Putting the Lightning back in the lead, Brayden Point nets one from the left circle.


   From the left circle - Nikita Kucherov scored a one-timer off a pass from Steven Stamkos, who had gotten his 1,100th NHL point with this assist. Stamkos extended the lead to 4-1 on the power play, a cross-ice pass from Kucherov... 7:58 remaining in the middle frame. With his first NHL goal, Mitchell Chaffee scored on the rebound of Maxwell Crozier's shot and gave Tampa the 5-1 lead. Sean Durzi scored his eighth goal of the season from the slot near the end of the second period, making it a 5-2 game.


   Luke Glendening scored his eighth goal of the season, getting the Lightning a 6-2 lead. Glendening shot from the left circle with 12:28 remaining in the final frame. Lawson Crouse scored a one-timer, a feed by Logan Cooley - 6-3 was the final.



Notes:

- Mitchell Chaffee scored his first NHL goal

- 400 games for Anthony Cirelli

- Nikita Kucherov had a goal and two assists

- For the fifth time in nine games, Kucherov has had at least three points... leading the NHL with 83 (32 goals, 51 assists)

- Andrei Vasilevskiy made 17 saves

- Clayton Keller had a goal and an assist

- Connor Ingram made 32 saves



"I think I've kind of matured a little bit more now, and I feel like those nerves maybe aren't as much there. So, I think I can go out there, kind of play my game, and play how I know I can rather than just trying to enjoy the moment." Mitchell Chaffee said after the Lightning's 6-3 win over the Coyotes.
