Penguins Secure 2nd Straight Victory Against Flyers

  After dropping the first three games to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially making things interesting. The Penguins secured their second straight victory in Game 5 on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, defeating the Flyers in a nail-biting 3-2 win to keep their season alive. Sidney Crosby fueled the comeback with a pair of assists, while Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar, and Kris Letang each found the back of the net. Following a 4-2 win in Game 4, Pittsburgh has now cut the series lead to 3-2 and will look to force a decisive Game 7 when they travel back to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Panthers 6-2 win over Arizona, 1/24/24

   The Arizona Coyotes played against the Panthers in Florida at the Amerant Bank Arena on Wednesday, January 24th. Sam Reinhart had a goal and an assist, extending his point streak to 11 games.

   Matthew Tkachuk scored the first goal of the game, getting Florida a 1-0 lead early into the first frame. He had won a puck battle with J.J. Moser along the boards, turned, and got the puck past Karel Vejmelka. Sam Reinhart made it a 2-0 score on the power play, on a one-timer from the low slot, passing back and forth with Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov. Only 17 seconds after Reinhart, Sam Bennett gets one in... beating Vejmelka glove side, a pass from Verhaeghe.


   Matthew Tkachuk strikes another with 15:46 remaining in the middle frame - scoring from the right circle, making it 4-0. Anton Lundell scored a one-timer off a pass from Reinhart, with 1:43 remaining in the period.


   Making it a 6-0 lead for Florida, Jonah Gadjovich scores a backhand in the front early into the final period. Dylan Guenther nets one for Arizona on the power play, making it 6-1. Logan Cooley tapped in a backdoor pass by Guenther... the final score was 6-2.

- Matthew Tkachuk had 2 goals and an assist

- Paul Maurice became the 2nd in NHL history in games coached (1,813)... passing Barry Trotz for 2nd. Scotty Bowman is in first place with 2,141

- Gustav Forsling hit 100 NHL assists
