Penguins Secure 2nd Straight Victory Against Flyers

  After dropping the first three games to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are officially making things interesting. The Penguins secured their second straight victory in Game 5 on Monday at PPG Paints Arena, defeating the Flyers in a nail-biting 3-2 win to keep their season alive. Sidney Crosby fueled the comeback with a pair of assists, while Elmer Soderblom, Connor Dewar, and Kris Letang each found the back of the net. Following a 4-2 win in Game 4, Pittsburgh has now cut the series lead to 3-2 and will look to force a decisive Game 7 when they travel back to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Penguins 4-1 Win In Philadelphia, 1/8/24

   The Penguins played against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday, January 8th. Pittsburgh won with a 4-1 score after an unfortunate loss against the Sabres on Saturday.

   Rickard Rakell scores a power-play goal just 45 seconds into first - Rakell now has a four-game point streak, also having points in eight out of nine past Penguins games. Erik Karlsson scores the second for Pittsburgh, now in a two-goal lead with 12:23 left in the period. Karlsson also has a four-game point streak! Owen Tippett scores the first and only goal for the Flyers - 2-1 being the final score of the first period.


   Chad Ruhwedel scores his first of the season, with 11:53 remaining in the second. This was the only goal the whole second frame, 3-1.


   Evgeni Malkin scores his 15th of the season! The Penguins win with a 4-1 score.



"They got a lot of skilled guys over there," Carter Hart said. "They were seeing the ice a lot and getting a lot of touches - I'm sure they're feeling good with their game."
