Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. Penguins 4-1 Win In Philadelphia, 1/8/24

   The Penguins played against the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday, January 8th. Pittsburgh won with a 4-1 score after an unfortunate loss against the Sabres on Saturday.

   Rickard Rakell scores a power-play goal just 45 seconds into first - Rakell now has a four-game point streak, also having points in eight out of nine past Penguins games. Erik Karlsson scores the second for Pittsburgh, now in a two-goal lead with 12:23 left in the period. Karlsson also has a four-game point streak! Owen Tippett scores the first and only goal for the Flyers - 2-1 being the final score of the first period.


   Chad Ruhwedel scores his first of the season, with 11:53 remaining in the second. This was the only goal the whole second frame, 3-1.


   Evgeni Malkin scores his 15th of the season! The Penguins win with a 4-1 score.



"They got a lot of skilled guys over there," Carter Hart said. "They were seeing the ice a lot and getting a lot of touches - I'm sure they're feeling good with their game."
