Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. Penguins Fall To The Sabres In Pittsburgh 3-1, 1/6/24

   The Penguins played against the Sabres in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 6th. After a great win in Boston, the Penguins lost to the Sabres with a 3-1 score.

   Alex Tuch strikes first for the Sabres early into the first. Drew O'Connor ties it up - Buffalo challenges it and it ends up being offside, with no goal. Jake Guentzel scores with just over a minute left in first - Buffalo challenges it and it ends up being goaltender interference, no goal for Pittsburgh. The final score of the first period was 1-0.


   The whole second period is completely scoreless.


   Rickard Rakell ties up the game, this unfortunately being the only goal the Penguins get. Zemgus Girgensons gets the Sabres in the lead with only 4:21 left in the third. Rasmus Dahlin scores and Buffalo wins with a 3-1 score, wrapping up their road trip.



"I think it really goes unsaid how hard he works," Alex Tuch on Luukkonen. "He's always doing extra work, always out there early - I think both of our goalies do a really good job."
