Shane Pinto scores the overtime winner 3-2 against the Red Wings, 1/31/24

   The Ottawa Senators played against the Red Wings in Detroit at the Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday, January 31st. The Senators and the Red Wings went into overtime, and Shane Pinto wrapped up the game with a 3-2 win for Ottawa.

   Daniel Sprong gave the Red Wings the 1-0 lead at 11:03 in the first period. Sprong scored a one-timer with Joe Veleno's pass coming from the left face-off point. The Senators and Red Wings go through the rest of the first frame with a 1-0 score.


   Tying it up 1-1 and getting Ottawa on the board early in the middle frame, Mark Kastelic scores his second goal of the season. Jacob Bernard-Docker shot from the point and Kastelic redirected the shot short side on Alex Lyon. Later into the second period, Brady Tkachuk puts the Senators in the lead with a 2-1 score. Tkachuk grabbed up a loose puck coming out from the penalty box and shot on a breakaway.


   Dylan Larkin tied the game back up 2-2 with 8:45 remaining in the final frame. Larkin skated up to the goal line, into the high slot, and beat Joonas Korpisalo glove side. The Senators and Red Wings now head into overtime with a 2-2 tie.


   Winning it 3-2 in overtime for Ottawa, Shane Pinto strikes his second goal of the season. Pinto tipped in a centering pass from Thomas Chabot, sliding through the crease on his knees, and gets one past Alex Lyon.

Shane Pinto on his goal and overtime win against the Red Wings: "I saw Chabby taking a line and saw I had a little bit of an angle on the guy. I just drove the net, he made a nice little saucer, and it just found its way in... I thought we did a good job of bringing it back - I think I'm definitely starting to feel more like myself."
