Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres 1/20/24

 






   The Tampa Bay Lightning played against the Buffalo Sabres at the KeyBank Center on Saturday, January 20th. The Lightning defeated the Sabres with a 3-1 score - Dylan Cozens scored the lone goal for Buffalo.

   Tampa Bay opened the scoring - Nick Paul scored the first goal of the night, getting his 12th goal of the season. Cirelli with a steal by the boards, made it toward the net, passed the puck off to Hagel, and made a quick pass to Paul who sent it in the net. Tyler Motte scored a short-handed goal, this being his 4th goal of the season.


   Dylan Cozens cuts the Lightning two-goal lead with his 8th goal of the season. Peterka having the puck after a shot from Dahlin, carried it behind the net and found Cozens in front. JJ Peterka recorded his 15th assist and Rasmus Dahlin recorded his 24th assist of the season.


   The Sabres were unable to push for more goals during the final frame - Calvin de Haan scored an empty-netter, getting his 3rd goal of the season. Tampa Bay won with a 3-1 score, now having a 5-game win streak.

Dylan Cozens on the Sabres 3-1 loss against Tampa Bay: "I think usually when we play these guys, it's pretty wide open for both of us. Both of us are pretty tight defensively, and there weren't many opportunities, and the opportunities they did get they capitalized on and we didn't. So, it's a tough one."
