Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. The Islanders fall to the Canadiens 4-3, 1/25/24

   The Islanders visited the Montreal Canadiens and unfortunately lost 4-3 on Thursday, January 25th. It was a close win for either of the two teams and both played great!

   Nick Suzuki gets one past Semyon Varlamov on the power play, scoring his 13th goal of the season. Suzuki finished off a passing play with Monahan and Slafkovsky. Cole Caufield made it a 2-0 game, tucking a shot past Varlamv glove side. Sean Monahan scores his 12th of the season on the power play.


   Getting the Islanders on the board, Bo Horvat scored his 20th goal on the power play to cut it to 3-1 early into the middle frame.


   Mat Barzal cut the lead to 3-2 with a great shot over Samuel Montembeault's left shoulder at a sharp angle. Barzal scored the second power-play goal for the New York Islanders. Tying up the game 3-3, Kyle Palmieri scored on the left side of the net. Palmieri had redirected a shot by Noah Dobson from the point. Sean Monahan scored and made it a 4-3 final score. Monahan shot the puck from the high slot, a feed from Josh Anderson.

- Nick Suzuki had one goal and an assist

- Sam Montembeault made 43 saves for Montreal

- Cole Caufield has 10 points during an eight-game point streak

- Semyon Varlamov made 22 saves in his first start since he sustained a lower-body injury on the  2nd of January.
