Blackhawks struggled with a slow start in the 4-2 loss against the Canucks, 2/13/24

   The league-leading Canucks defeated the Chicago Blackhawks with a 4-2 score on Tuesday, February 13th. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks had a slow start and weren't able to match the level of play.

   Conor Garland opened the scoring and gave Vancouver the 1-0 lead in the first period at 9:55. Garland passed the puck to Dakota Joshua, who was in the left face-off circle after Garland had skated into the slot with the puck... Joshua passed it back to Garland and he scored just off the crease. The Canucks held their one-goal lead through the remainder of the first frame.


   Scoring his second of the night to keep that Canucks lead up, Filip Hronek's shot coming from the point had deflected off Conor Garland's right foot and into the net. Tyler Johnson cuts it 2-1 on the power play. Philipp Kurashev fed the puck to Johnson after Nick Foligno had passed it to Kurashev along the goal line... Johnson scored from the right circle with a wrist shot. With 1:32 remaining in the middle frame, Nils Hoglander responded to make it a 3-1 lead for the Canucks. Hoglander tapped in the rebound of his own shot in the front.


   Dakota Joshua pushed it 4-1 after he had taken a pass from Teddy Blueger and scored a backhanded shot. Later into the period, Kevin Korchinski scored from the front off a pass from Ryan Donato and Vancouver won with a 4-2 final.




Notes:

- Dakota Joshua had a goal and two assists... this was his first three-point game in the NHL

- Conor Garland scored two goals... Filip Hronk recorded two assists

- Thatcher Demko made 21 saves for Vancouver

- Petr Mrazek made 34 saves for Chicago
