Patrick Kane Returns to Chicago, Two-Year Deal

  On Thursday, the Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with former star forward Patrick Kane on a two-year, $16 million contract that includes a no-move clause. Patrick Kane played the first of his 19 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times in Chicago in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He has made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs 11 times in his career, earning 138 points (53 goals, 85 assists) in 143 postseason games. Kane ranks third in franchise history in assists (80), points (132), and games played (136), and ranks fourth in goals (52). Last season with the Detroit Red Wings, the 37-year-old forward had 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. He finished fourth on the Red Wings with 16 goals and 41 assists, ranking fifth with 57 points. Kane is one of two active NHL players (Alex Ovechkin) to secure 40-or-more points in each of the last 19 seasons and is one of just 19 players to do so in NHL history. Chicago Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues at the Wrigley Field in Chicago for the 2025 Winter Classic

 





   This will be the second outdoor game featuring both of these teams. The Blues defeated the Blackhawks 4-1 in the 2017 Winter Classic that took place in St. Louis at the Busch Stadium.


   The 2025 Winter Classic will be the Blackhawks' seventh outdoor game they have taken part in and the fifth Winter Classic they've been involved in. The last Winter Classic they played at the Wrigley Field was in 2009 when they hosted the Detroit Red Wings.
