Kings Win 3-2 in Shootout vs. Anaheim Ducks, 2/24/24

   The Anaheim Ducks lost 3-2 in a shootout against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, February 24th at the Crypto.com Arena. Both Drew Doughty and Kevin Fiala had a goal and an assist in the shootout victory for the Kings. The Kings had a four-game win streak before they had lost 4-1 against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

   Opening the scoring and getting Anaheim a 1-0 lead - Jakob Silfverberg scored from the left circle with a wrister, beating David Rittich under his glove on the power play. This was Silfverberg's sixth goal of the season. Kevin Fiala tied the game 1-1 at 4:37 of the first period from the left circle, through a screen by Anze Kopitar. He scored with a wrist shot, getting another power-play goal in three straight games.


   Sam Carrick put the Ducks ahead 2-1 at 10:52 of the second period. Adam Henrique sent a centering pass on a 2-on-1 rush and Carrick got a touch on it shorthanded before it got in off Drew Doughty's stick. Tying it up 2-2 with his 13th of the season, Doughty shot a wrister on the power play from the high slot through traffic.


   In the third, the score remained at 2-2... The Ducks and Kings went into overtime to determine the game-winner, however, they had to go to a shootout.

   Both Pierre-Luc Dubois and Trevor Moore scored in the shootout... David Rittich saved attempts by Mason McTavish and Alex Killorn. The Kings won with a 3-2 score.




Notes:

- Los Angeles is 2-5 in games that have gone to a shootout this season.

- Drew Doughty got his 20th assist of the season when he assisted on Kevin Fiala's goal. This is his 11th consecutive season reaching that mark.

- Adrian Kempe has 51 points in 56 games (19 goals, 32 assists)... He's gotten to this 50-point mark in the past three seasons.

- David Rittich made 22 saves for Los Angeles and John Gibson made 48 saves for Anaheim.
