The New York Islanders get a 3-2 win playing against the Maple Leafs in Toronto at the Scotiabank Arena on Monday, February 5th. It was a close win for either team, however, Pierre Engvall scored late in the final period to get that 3-2 final for New York.

Giving New York the lead - Mat Barzal strikes his 14th goal of the season with 9:29 remaining in the first period. Barzal scored a rebound from the slot, getting one past Ilya Samsonov.

Mitch Marner ties up the game 1-1 with his 21st goal of the season 50 seconds into the middle frame. Marner took a pass from John Tavares from the top of the right circle, skated to the hashmarks on the right, and shot high glove during the 4-on-4. Scoring the second for the Islanders and getting them back in the lead with his first NHL goal - Kyle MacLean gets the puck past Ilya Samsonov's outstretched left pad after coming out of the penalty box, scoring on the breakaway.

Tying the game back up, 2-2, John Tavares nets one on the power play. Tavares deflected Morgan Rielly's shot in the slot, recording his 14th goal of the season. Pierre Engvall scores a late one with 2:02 remaining in the final frame and wraps it up, getting the Islanders the 3-2 win.

Mitch Marner on the Maple Leafs 3-2 loss against the Islanders: "I think any loss is frustrating. It doesn't really matter how it happens - We'll take a look at it tomorrow so we can do better."

Simon Benoit on the Maple Leafs 3-2 loss: "I think it was a good hockey game. We had our trenches, they had theirs, and they just kept their eyes on theirs."
