The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the St. Louis Blues for their fourth straight win on Monday, February 19th. Auston Matthews scored his 49th goal of the season and added an assist. The Maple Leafs won with a 4-2 score.

The first period was completely scoreless, 0-0.
Only 22 seconds into the second period, Matthew Knies scored his tenth goal of the season. Auston Matthews fed Knies in the high slot after he stripped Nick Leddy of the puck along the wall... the latter got past Colton Parayko, beating Joel Hofer with a swift wrist shot. Brandon Saad tied it on the power play 1-1 late into the middle frame. He shot from the slot after taking a pass by Parayko from the right point and scored a wrist shot.
Auston Matthews scored on the power play for his 49th just 45 seconds into the third period to make it 2-1. Mitch Marner sent the puck to Matthews from behind the net. Scoring on a 2-on-1 at 12:31, William Nylander pushed it 3-1 with a short-handed goal after a giveaway by Pavel Buchnevich in the offensive zone. Pavel Buchnevich cut it to 3-2 after he tipped in a wrist shot by Torey Krug from the right point... Bobby McMann struck the empty net for a 4-2 final.
Auston Matthews on the team's win and Matthew Knies' goal: "We knew they were going to have a really good effort tonight and want to have a bounce back from last week. The first period was kind of stagnant, not much going on. I thought we picked it up there in the second and played a really solid game, rolling all four lines. Sam was solid again for us. I thought there were a lot of great things tonight," - "Beautiful play. He's got great skill and he just continues to get better and better. It's been great to see and it's fun playing with him."
Matthew Knies on his game and being without Morgan Rielly: "I think I'm playing hard... putting pressure on them, making a 'D' turn, creating havoc in front, and creating opportunities for my two linemates," - "We're playing really hard now. Obviously, he's a valuable piece to us and we're excited he's going to come back here soon. I think we're playing really good hockey and it's given us a jump."

- Marshall Rifai made his NHL debut
- Mitch Marner recorded three assists, having a total of 43 assists this season... William Nylander has three short-handed goals this season.
- Ilya Samsonov made 19 saves for Toronto and Joel Hofer made 25 saves for St. Louis.
- Robert Thomas had an assist... now has 18 points in the past 12 games (three goals, 15 assists).
- Auston Matthews has 25 points in the past 13 games (has a point in 12 of them)... with the lone exception against the Blues last week on Tuesday (16 goals, nine assists).
He is the first Maple Leafs player to score seven goals in a three-game stretch since Rick Value, from February 28th to March 5th, 1987
