Kadirova, Elridge Each Score Two, Torrent Falls 4-3 To Charge

  Photo via Seattle Torrent/PWHL The Torrent suffered their fourth straight loss when they took on the Ottawa Charge on Wednesday at TD Place, losing 4-3. Seattle came alive in the second period behind two goals from Jessie Eldridge. Alex Carpenter, who made history scoring the first-ever penalty shot goal in PWHL history, tied the game before Ottawa took the lead back with little time to play. Fanuza Kadirova found the back of the net twice for the Charge. Alexa Vasko and Emily Clark also scored to help secure the victory. The Torrent will look to regroup before hosting the Boston Fleet on March 11, while the Charge travel to the Prudential Center on Sunday for a showdown with the New York Sirens. Tristan Jarry leads all goalies in the NHL with his 6 shutouts of the season, Penguins win 3-0 against the Winnipeg Jets 2/6/24

   The Penguins defeated the Winnipeg Jets with a 3-0 score on Tuesday, February 6th. Tristan Jarry recorded his sixth shutout of the season and the 19th of his career... now leading all goalies in the NHL with the most shutouts this season.

   At 12:44 in the first period, Kris Letang puts the Penguins in the lead. Letang scored on a backhand from the slot, getting the puck past Connor Hellebuyck. The remainder of the period stays at the 1-0 score.


   After Penguins forward Noel Acciari was helped into the locker room after taking a hit from Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon - Jeff Carter gets Pittsburgh in a 2-0 lead. Carter grabbed up a loose puck off a shot by Erik Karlsson that was deflected by Lars Eller and shot the puck around Connor Hellebuyck's left pad. Bryan Rust tapped in a loose puck in the crease that came from a backhand shot by Jake Guentzel... Sidney Crosby got the secondary assist that extended his point streak to eight games (five goals and five assists).


   Mark Scheifele cut the Penguins lead, 3-1, but Pittsburgh challenged it. The goal was determined offsides, no goal. The Penguins wrapped it up with a 3-0 win!



Notes:

- Tristan Jarry made 23 saves in his sixth shutout of the season and his 19th of his career.

- 500 NHL Games for Jake Guentzel

- 800 NHL Games as a Head Coach for Mike Sullivan

- Kris Letang had reached the 30-point plateau for the 14th time in his career. He is the 21st defenseman in NHL history and the second active to reach 14 or more 30-point seasons.

- Jake Guentzel became the 21st player from his draft class (77th overall in 2013) to play 500 career games. His 219 career goals entering his 500th are the most among all 2013 draftees through their milestone game.

- Noel Acciari did not return for the remainder of the game

- Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves for Winnipeg



Tristan Jarry on the Penguins' 3-0 win, his 19th career shutout, and the team's current position: "We all did the right thing and I think that gave us the upper hand tonight - Okay, obviously, but we're not in the position we want to be in... We want to be in a playoff position and that's going to be the goal at the end of the season - Every point that we can get helps us to that."
