David Pastrnak scored his second hat trick of the season and the 17th of his NHL career on Tuesday, March 19th when the Bruins defeated the Ottawa Senators at the TD Garden. The Bruins took a 6-2 victory against the Senators for their third straight win following a 5-1 loss against the St. Louis Blues on March 11th. Justin Brazeau scored two goals in Boston's win, having three NHL career goals. Both Brady Tkachuk and Shane Pinto scored the two goals for Ottawa.

David Pastrnak scored the first of the game at 11:33, putting Boston ahead 1-0. He tipped in a shot from the left point by Matt Grzelcyk. Not much longer after this goal, Pastrnak struck once again for his second of the night, and his 43rd of the season to make it two-nothing. Pastrnak scored on a breakaway after intercepting a centering pass by Tim Stutzle.
Putting the Ottawa Senators on the board, Shane Pinto cut it to 2-1 on the power play at 6:52 of the second for his seventh goal of the season. Pinto sent the puck from the high slot past Linus Ullmark. At 1:09, Justin Brazeau pushed it to 3-1 when he scored off the rebound of a shot by Kevin Shattenkirk on the power play. With four seconds remaining, Brady Tkachuk scored the final goal by the Senators for his 31st of the season. He jabbed in his own rebound past Ullmark at the doorstep.
David Pastrnak finished his second hat trick of the season at 15:17 of the third frame, putting Boston up 4-2. He completed the hat trick with a backhanded shot from the slot... Just 25 seconds later, Jesper Boqvist extended the lead to 5-2 after he skated past Jacob Chychrun. With 1:54 remaining in regulation, Justin Brazeau decided to wrap it up with the perfect finishing touch for the 6-2 final. Brazeau scored his second of the game after receiving a pass from Jake DeBrusk, and then he curled out in front to beat Joonas Korpisalo glove side.
David Pastrnak on the celebration of his hat trick and the win: "It's definitely fun when your game is on - I feel definitely special because it was two backhanders and a high tip, I don't get many of those so it was an interesting one," - "It was great - very, very happy for our team because after two, we were nowhere near our game but we were up by one goal and it was important for us to recognize that we were leading by a goal at home, going into the third. So, we made sure we kept going, playing on our toes."
Shane Pinto on the Senators' 6-2 loss in Boston: "I think it was pretty similar to the game on Sunday. We played well for two periods and I don't know what happened in the third there, we just didn't stay consistent with it. It kind of got away from us there," - "I just didn't think we came out as hard as we needed to on that third, we didn't capitalize on the momentum, and they took over. So, we just got to be more mature there in the second intermission and make sure we're ready to play there in the third."
Notes:
- Kevin Shattenkirk recorded two assists, and Linus Ullmark made a total of 30 saves for Boston. Justin Brazeau's two goals were his first since his first goal in his NHL debut on the 19th of February against the Dallas Stars.
- David Pastrnak's 17 NHL career hat tricks are second in Boston Bruins history. He is behind Phil Esposito (26)... Pastrnak's third goal was his 345th NHL goal, which moved him past Cam Neely for seventh in team history.
Pastrnak took sole possession of the fourth-most multi-goal games in Bruins history. He passed both Rick Middleton (63) and Brad Marchand (63)... Only Esposito (104), Neely (76), and Johnny Bucyk (75) have more.
- David Pastrnak extended his point streak to six games, having six goals and three assists.
- Joonas Korpisalo made a total of 20 saves for Ottawa.
- Tim Stutzle's six-game point streak was put to an end (three goals, five assists)
