After starting their road trip off strong in Calgary on Monday, winning in overtime 2-1, the Devils met up with the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night for the second stop of their four-game road trip, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory. It was a major statement win for New Jersey, as they managed to shut down an Oilers team that had just come off back-to-back shutout wins against the Canucks and Blues. Jake Allen was a wall in net for the Devils, making 22 saves and allowing just one goal to secure his team’s second straight win. On the offensive side, Arseni Gritsyuk and Cody Glass provided all the spark New Jersey needed, with each player recording a goal and an assist for a two-point night. The Devils' next stop is Vancouver on Friday, and hopefully, they will continue this winning streak. The Oilers host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Arseni Gritsyuk opened the scoring to put the Devils ahead 1-0 after a scoreless first 20, picking up his ninth goal of the season when he received a centering pass from Cody Glass, who picked up the puck along the boards when it was sent to him on the left side from Dougie Hamilton. Gritsyuk got the pass from the edge of the left circle and fired a one-timer that snuck under Tristan Jarry's glove arm at 14:37 of the second. Right off a face-off win by Jack Roslovic, not long after the opening goal at 12:58, Matt Savoie deflected a slap shot by Jake Walman from the right point under Jake Allen in front to knot it up 1-1. This was Savoie's eighth goal of the season. Glass responded, untying the knot to put New Jersey back in front 2-1 with 11:28 on the clock, picking up his 11th of the season. He caught Darnell Nurse on a bad line change, then skated down the left wing alone while Gritsyuk got the puck from Connor Brown before passing it off to Glass, who beat Jarry from the circle blocker side.

Notes:

- The Devils are 26-22-2, and have won four of five, including their 2-1 overtime win at the Calgary Flames on Monday.

- This was Jack Hughes' 400th NHL career game.

- Jesper Bratt sits just one point shy of tying Scott Gomez (484) for fifth on the all-time franchise points list. He currently trails only a legendary quartet of Devils: Patrik Elias (1,025), John MacLean (701), Travis Zajac (550), and Kirk Muller (520).

- Arseny Gritsyuk finished the night with two points (1-1—2), falling just one point short of his second 3-point game of the year. He was looking to become the first Devils rookie since Luke Hughes (2023-24) to post multiple three-point games in a single debut season. Gritsyuk previously accomplished the feat on Dec. 9 against Ottawa.

- The Devils’ 2-1 result in Edmonton marks their 15th one-goal win of the campaign. They are currently tied with the Sharks (15) for the third-highest total in the NHL, trailing only the Islanders (17) and Red Wings (16).

- Tristan Jarry made a total of 15 saves in his first home start since being acquired in a trade with Pittsburgh.

- The Oilers are 25-18-8, and were looking to win three straight for the first time this season.

- In the scoreless third period, the Oilers outshot the Devils 11-3.

- The Devils successfully halted Connor McDavid’s 17-game point streak against the franchise on Tuesday. Had he found the scoresheet, he would have matched his career-best against a single opponent (18 GP vs. SJS). Only two other active players have posted an 18-plus game run against another franchise: Leon Draisaitl (21 GP vs. VAN & 20 GP vs. CHI) and Sidney Crosby (19 GP vs. BUF).
