Kadirova, Elridge Each Score Two, Torrent Falls 4-3 To Charge

The Torrent suffered their fourth straight loss when they took on the Ottawa Charge on Wednesday at TD Place, losing 4-3. Seattle came alive in the second period behind two goals from Jessie Eldridge. Alex Carpenter, who made history scoring the first-ever penalty shot goal in PWHL history, tied the game before Ottawa took the lead back with little time to play. Fanuza Kadirova found the back of the net twice for the Charge. Alexa Vasko and Emily Clark also scored to help secure the victory. The Torrent will look to regroup before hosting the Boston Fleet on March 11, while the Charge travel to the Prudential Center on Sunday for a showdown with the New York Sirens.

Alexa Vasko scored her first of the season to get the Charge ahead 1-0 right off the face-off when Peyton Hemp got the puck to Emma Greco, who fired from near the blue line, and with Vasko in the slot, she put in the rebound of Greco's shot past Hannah Murphy at 5:45 of the first period. With 58 seconds to go in the opening frame, Fanuza Kadirova put in her fifth goal of the season off a cross-ice pass from Kateřina Mrázová, who got the puck from Rory Guilday in Ottawa's zone, for a tip-in short-side.

Jessie Eldridge scored her sixth of the season to cut it to 2-1 midway through the middle frame with a power-play goal when Aneta Tejralova passed back and forth with Alex Carpenter, who ended up firing from the right circle, her shot deflected off Julia Gosling's stick, finding its way to Eldridge, who put it in the open net at 10:47. Just 42 seconds later, Emily Clark made it 3-1 during a 2-on-1 with Kate Reilly, who got the puck from Gabbie Hughes before winning a foot race to create a 2-on-1 with Clark, who ended up beating Murphy from in close. With 5:13 on the clock in the second, Eldridge scored her seventh of the season and her second of the game with another power-play goal. Gosling and Tejralova picked up the assists.

At 9:52 of the third, Carpenter etched her name into the PWHL history books when she tied the game 3-3, beating Gwyneth Philips glove side after she was pulled down by Reilly on a break. Kadirova scored her second of the game with 1:46 left to play, putting home the game-winner on the power play for the 4-3 final. Ronja Savolainen and Mrazova recorded the assists.

- Hannah Murphy made a total of 23 saves for Seattle.

- Gwyneth Philips made a total of 33 saves for Ottawa.

- With her two goals, Jessie Eldridge hit 51 PWHL career points. She's the ninth PWHL player to reach the milestone this season, and the third member of the Torrent, joining Alex Carpenter and Hilary Knight, the most among PWHL teams. ...She extended her point streak to five games, the second five-game stretch of her career. 

- Julia Gosling recorded two assists.

- Katerina Mrazova and Kate Reilly picked up a pair of assists each.

- With her goal, Emily Clark hit the 40-point mark in her PWHL career (16 goals, 24 assists). ...She has four points in three games, including her first multi-point performance of the season (1G, 1A) when the Charge beat the Torrent on Jan. 28. She hit the 40-point mark of her career, and is just one away from 25 career assists.
